Services and Rates

Leslie Knee, LMT - Services Available

If you are seeking relaxation, pain relief, or  health support, your massage therapy session will be tailored to your lifestyle and health needs. Most sessions are a combination of techniques, chosen through our intake before the session starts, and as the body calls for it during the session. To accomodate flexibility for what is needed session to session, the rates are the same for most services, unless noted.

Swedish a.k.a. Relaxation - great for relieving daily stress and tension, a swedish massage uses a system of long strokes, kneading and friction techniques to address the more superficial muscles of the body.

Deep Tissue/Neuromuscular/Trigger Point Therapy- uses specific sculpting and deep tissue techniques and movement to release referred muscle pain and relax chronic muscle tension.

Myofascial Release - stretches out bound fascia that surrounds all muscles and muscle groups.  This technique is very effective for releasing chronically tight muscle areas, and bringing back more fluid and pain-free movement.

Certified Prenatal Massage - certified through the "Nuturing the Mother" program by Claire Marie Miller, (www.nurturingthemother.com) massage is safely performed for mom throughout her pregnancy. The mother is bolstered on a regular massage table with pillows and blankets, which provides relaxation and relief from the discomforts of her changing body. Soothing techniques are used to prepare the body for pregancy, provide relaxation during pregnancy, relieve pain during labor, and help to regulate the body to recover after pregnancy. Classes in Partner Massage are also taught by Leslie at Blue Heron Wellness.

Post Natal Massage - uses massage techniques to help Mom feel at home in her post-pregnancy body. Abdominal massage is performed with healing and warming essential oils to help facilitate recovery of the skin and muscles after giving birth.

Manual Lymph Drainage -  a gentle, non-invasive technique that has a powerful effect against lymphedema and inflammation.  Pumping the lymph through the body is vital for strong immunity and speeds injury recovery. MLD is recommended to treat pain, edema, inflammation, orthopedic injuries and burns.  It is a must after liposuction*, and before and after any surgery. Visible improvement is often seen after one treatment. Treatments can also help with the symptoms of arthritis, active migraine or acne.   These noninvasive treatments can reduce pain and redirect the lymph flow that may be impeded by surgery or a compromised immune system. Treatments before and after any type of surgery can help to reduce post operative swelling, minimize the risk of infection, as well as decrease recovery time. Leslie is trained in the Vodder method through the Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy (www.nortonschool.com).

* Sutures must be healed before treatment can begin, generally 2 weeks post-surgery.

Detoxifying Lymph Massage - an invigorating exfoliation, reflexology and application of essential oils that encourage detoxification, along with light, soothing lymphatic strokes are just the thing if you are going through a dietary detox or lifestyle change.

Oncology Massage - completed over 100 hours of training in dealing with some of the discomforts that can occur during and after cancer treatment, including breast, lung, or brain surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. Anxiety, peripheral neuropathy, lymphedema, pain and nausea can be relieved with specialized oncology massage techniques.

Reflexology - treat your feet to 60 minutes of heaven with a warm foot bath infused with essential oils. A luxurious foot massage is followed by treatment of specific points on the feet that correspond to the entire body.  For no additional charge, you can request reflexology as part of your regular massage or hot stone treatment.

Sports Massage - improve performance and prevent injury with an invigorating sports massage right before your event, or a relaxing cooldown massage after. Deep tissue stripping and specific muscle release techniques are performed in between competitive events.

Hot Stone Therapy -  melt your muscles by adding hot stones to your massage. Lava stones, which retain heat, are smoothed over tired muscles to bring deep relaxation and comfort.  Add aromatherapy - it's heavenly - and free!

Aromatherapy - essential oils are the lifeblood of the plant, and  nature's first medicine. Their aromatic properties can help lift the blues and relax the busy mind. The physical properties of some oils can help to relieve pain and tension (like ben-gay - yes, it is aromatherapy!)  Ask to add oils to your session, I'll come up with the perfect combination for you.

Massage Cupping - This unique brand of bodywork uses suction to lift tissue as the vacuum cup moves. This creates space and separation in the tissues that allows the therapist to work more effectively and comfortably on the client. Massage Cupping is a specific set of movements that the trained practitioner uses in different combinations to quickly facilitate elimination of debris and release of rigid soft tissues. Some light marking may occur, but is not painful.
